1. Core Principles
Vref Keyboard is designed to keep what you type private.
- The app does not transmit text you type to any external server.
- The app does not sell text you type.
2. Information the App Accesses or Processes
2.1 Keyboard Input
The app processes the keys you press and characters being composed on-device in order to provide Android input method functionality. This processing is solely for the purpose of delivering text to the app you are currently typing in.
The app does not upload or remotely store your input.
2.2 Voice Input
The app offers optional voice input. Microphone permission is requested and voice recognition begins only when the user taps the voice input button.
Voice recognition may be processed via Android SpeechRecognizer and the speech recognition service installed on your device. The speech recognition service provider may process voice data; that processing is governed by your device settings and the provider’s own privacy policy.
Vref Keyboard receives the recognized text and inserts it into the current input field. Vref Keyboard does not store voice input results on its own servers.
2.3 Purchase Information
The app uses Google Play Billing to provide Pro features. Payment processing is handled by Google Play.
To verify Pro entitlement, the app may store purchase status, purchase token, and purchase time in local app storage. This information is used for purchase restoration and Pro feature activation.
2.4 Diagnostic and Crash Information
The app uses Firebase Crashlytics to improve stability. Crashlytics collects crash logs, app version, device/OS information, diagnostic data at the time of errors, and identifiers needed for crash identification.
2.5 App Settings
The app stores user-selected settings — such as keyboard height, theme, floating keyboard position and size, input options, and purchase status — in on-device storage. This information is used to maintain app functionality and restore user preferences.
3. Permission Usage
The app uses the following Android permissions:
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
RECORD_AUDIO |
Used to convert speech to text when the user activates voice input. |
INTERNET |
Used for Firebase Crashlytics, Google Play Billing, and Google platform services. Not used to upload keyboard input. |
VIBRATE |
Used to provide haptic feedback on key presses. |
com.android.vending.BILLING |
Used to provide in-app purchases via Google Play. |
Microphone permission is requested only when the user activates the voice input feature. Denying microphone permission does not affect normal keyboard input functionality.
4. Information Sharing
To provide app functionality, certain information may be processed by the following service providers:
- Google Play Billing: In-app purchase processing and purchase status verification
- Firebase Crashlytics: App stability diagnostics and crash analysis
- Android speech recognition service: Voice recognition processing when initiated by the user
Each service provider’s data processing is governed by that service’s terms and privacy policy.
5. Retention and Deletion
App settings, purchase status, and local user preferences are stored on the device where the app is installed.
Users can delete local data by:
- Clearing app data in Android Settings
- Uninstalling the app
You may also send deletion or data-related requests to the contact email below. Note that information managed by Google — such as Google Play purchase records — is handled according to your Google account and Google Play policies.
6. User Rights
Users may exercise the following rights regarding personal information processed by the app:
- Access: Request to view information the app stores about you
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate information
- Deletion: Request deletion of stored information
- Restriction: Request temporary suspension of personal information processing
Requests may be submitted to the contact email below. We will respond within 30 days of receiving a request.
7. Security
The app uses Android app-private storage for local settings. Where possible, sensitive information such as purchase entitlements is stored using encrypted storage.
Communication with Firebase and Google Play services uses the secure transport methods provided by those services.
8. Children’s Privacy
The app is not directed at children as its primary audience.
9. Changes
This Privacy Policy may be updated in response to changes in app functionality, applicable law, or Google Play policies. Material changes will be announced through the app or its distribution page.
